Interior of Hawaiian Airlines PlaneBoth Matt and I were surprised by the interior of the plane.  It's a good thing these airplanes are only used for short flights because the seats were not designed for comfort - they didn't recline and they were just barely cushioned. Both the windows and the tray tables were rather small.

Hawaiian Airlines did a redesign and retrofit of their Boeing 717s in 2015. It seems like they stream lined the seats to reduce the weight and increase profits. Our roundtrip tickets were $289 each!

Hawaiian Airlines Drink

At least they didn't skimp on the drink service. Oh...wait a minute...they skimped on that too! They offered 4 ounces of water or 4 ounces of juice. No ice, no soda, no snacks and no cups. I think they might have had coffee, but I'm not sure.

On the plus side, it was the CLEANEST plane I've ever seen, the flight was short, AND it was taking us to OAHU! It's hard to complain when you are headed to another piece of paradise!

Check out the crater and sea of houses! The population of the city of Honolulu is nearly twice the population of the Big Island. That's a lot of people in close proximity.

Honolulu

There are five times as many people on Oahu than the Big Island. That's about a million residents. In addition, each year over 5 million people visit Oahu.

When we got off the plane, I pulled up the car reservations on my phone and looked for an Enterprise shuttle. It didn't take long for one to show up.
